Market environment for Concentrix Solar
The situation on the market for photovoltaics is, in all, very good because more and more countries are creating positive boundary conditions for expanding the use of renewable energy.
During the last 10 years, the worldwide PV market showed a mean annual growth of over 30%. In 2008, the total power of PV modules produced was 5 GW. Up to 2011, prognoses indicate that a further annual growth, by 20 GW per year, is to be expected.
Recently, the PV market is showing a clear trend towards systems with larger power outputs. Large systems having power-plant size present the target market for concentrator PV systems from Concentrix Solar.
For conventional photovoltaic systems, silicon modules still dominate the market. The thin-film and the concentrator technology are, however, currently gaining importance and market share – not least, due to the promising cost saving potential of these technologies.
In the concentrator technology, these cost reductions are achieved by the high efficiencies.
